Vintage Vietnamese Cotton Panel with Geometric Silk Embroidery

Hot pink, purple, peach, and pale gray embroidery fills the upper end of this Vietnamese panel. Farther down, those colors fade to dusty pink, tan, and muted gray.

A raised cream lattice divides the surface into diamonds. Thick silk threads form smaller squares, diamonds, and stepped shapes inside them, against dark blue-green handwoven cotton.

The long panel gives you a continuous section of the embroidery, with its change in color visible from one end to the other.

Condition

It’s in good vintage condition, with vivid embroidery at one end and pronounced uneven fading through the center and opposite end. There are loose and pulled threads, small areas of worn or missing embroidery, and fraying along the unfinished edges.
